Doug Ellis +

Doug started at Monash in July 1960, eight months before the University opened. His first job was as laboratory manager in chemistry. In 1965 he became general secretary of the Monash Sports and Recreation Association.
In that role he was closely and sympathetically involved in a wide range of student activities. He admitted to an admiration (not always wholeheartedly shared by others in positions of authority) for some of the more imaginative pranks of the early days - before the student body 'got serious.'  Doug's favorite student prank was the report published in a daily paper in 1967 of a $2.7 million, 15·story car park to be built at Monash for students.
Unfortunately Doug passed away in 1994, but he did see his beloved MUCC enter Sub-District Cricket before then, after many years of lobbying from himself personally.

He also served as the Staff Vice-President and then the President of the Executive of the Monash University Sports and Recreation Association for a period of 15 years.  In 2021 Trevor was recognised by Cricket Victoria for 50 years of services, at Monash University and as a Victorian Premier Umpire.
