O-CAMP (18th of March – 21th of March)
O-camp kickstarts our MUSC season every year, while there may not be any snow at Mount Baw Baw, that doesn’t stop us from going there anyway and hitting the ‘dry slopes’. This year will be no different, the official MUSC orientation camp is in March, and the limited 40 spots available will sell out lightning fast so be sure to secure yourself one early. This is not a weekend you’ll want to miss. Our main goal of O-Camp is to bring people together, to introduce all the Monash first years to some of the MUSC committee and ensure everyone walks away with new friends that will last you far longer than just the snow season. We’ll organise daily activities, nightly themed parties, all your food and drink… all you need to bring is a fun vibe and be up for a great time!
CLUBWEEK
Clubweek is legendary amongst university circles. It may sound cliché but it’s absolutely true. This year Jasper is in charge of organising this fantastic week for you all, however, we’ll be changing things up a bit - instead of going to Mt Hotham... we’re going to New Zealand!! A lot of work has been put in behind the scenes over summer to ensure this trip will be unforgettable. If you’re keen to meet heaps of great people and really want to have the full uni ski club experience, this is THE trip for you. Clubweek will run from 10th July to 17th July in Queenstown (given covid permits), where 100 of our members will jump on a plane and never look back. As this is such a big trip, we will split everyone into ‘families’ (small groups) who will have committee members as their ‘mum’ and ‘dad.’ If it’s lifelong friends you’re after, you’re guaranteed to find them on this trip. Food, drinks, accommodation, transport, activities, and lift passes are all included! We have plenty of people who come on Clubweek who are seeing the snow for the first time, in addition to seasoned professionals – no matter your skill level this trip caters for all, it is an experience you’ll never forget! Skiing all day and partying all night - what more could you ask for? Stay tuned as tickets sell out fast.
BULLER BEGINNERS TRIP
Buller Beginners Trip runs just after Clubweek and is the perfect chance for our members who aren’t so confident on the slopes to really find their feet. Not only is this trip the most affordable way to learn to ski or board as a uni student (let’s face it, we’re all broke), it’s by far the most fun way to do it too. With less than 50 spots available, there’s enough people that you’re sure to have a good party, but also few enough that you’re bound to make some close connections with those of a similar ability to you on the slopes. So, if you’re new to the snow or still learning, this trip is custom built to give you the best possible start on a board or skis!
VIC IVs
This one’s for all you racers out there. The Victorian Intervarsity Games (VIC IVs) will be run just before semester two starts at the end of July at our very own Mount Buller. This trip will give 40 of our members the chance to compete for Monash against all the other Victorian universities, in a range of different alpine and freestyle disciplines. Whether you love giant slalom or slopestyle, to ski or board, there is guaranteed to be an event for you. Haven’t heard of any of these before? No problem! As long as you can make it competently down a blue run, we’d love to have you compete for us. Participation is key at an event like this! VIC IVs is the trip that lets everyone have a go, whether you’ve raced all your life or you’re just getting started. Get in quick and help us reclaim the VICs trophy.
HOTHAM SHREDAWAY
Introduced in 2019, our newest and most sought after trip is back again. Last year the wait list could have stretched all the way up to Mt Hotham itself! This trip will take place in early September with 40 of our members heading up. This trip is a weekend you wouldn’t want to miss as it will be our last snow trip for the year :(( be sure to come along for an epic adventure with all your mates you have made this year. Look out for this event... if we’re going off last year’s data, tickets will sell out extremely fast.
FALLS TRIP
Taking place in August, our Falls Trip will be an unforgettable weekend. With 30 spots up for grabs, this weekend will give you the chance to shred on one of Victoria’s best mountains and you can continue getting to know some of the awesome people that are apart of MUSC. Falls Trip is for anyone and everyone… with transport, accommodation, food and lift tickets included, optional lessons, and terrain suitable for beginners or those of you who want to show off your skills, keep an eye out for this one!
DAY TRIPS
Another new addition to our trip’s portfolio. We understand a full-on ski trip can be a little daunting or pricy for beginners, so why not just try this awesome sport for a day? We organise everything for you; mountain entry, ski/snowboard equipment hire, lift pass and professional lessons are all included, all you need to worry about is meeting some cool new people and enjoying the snow as much as we do! We’ll run a number of these trips throughout the year, so keep an eye out for the announcement of specific dates and locations!
