The event in Chile was the first Olympic Qualifyer of 2020 and the New Zealand native did his chances of making it to Tokyo no harm.

After bowing out in the competitions third round (semi-finals), Hoshi finished 13th overall. The result comes off the back of Hoshi's successful 2019 campaign and is indicative of his recent training camp in Malaysia.

The Karate expert is now headed to Paris for the Karate Premier League where he will look to further stamp his case for this years Olympics in Tokyo.
