This year the Gold Coast hosted over 6000 student athletes from all around Australia for the 29th annual UniSport Nationals.

Taking place from the 23rd - 29th of September, our Team Monash athletes competed in a wide variety of sports against 42 other Australian Universities! It was an action packed week that all participants agree was certainly one to remember. 

Monash is very proud to have taken home six Champion pennants from the event with a plethora of other medals and stand out moments. 

Our Cheer and Dance teams once again rocked the stage with plenty of high flying stunts, tumbling and excitement, earning themselves first place in both Cheer and Dance!

One of our most successful sports was Badminton, as we dominated the competition, receiving Gold Medals in both the Men's and Women's divisions!

Landing in Queensland with "a hunger to win," our Mixed Netball team also came home with Gold. Team Organiser and star player Lachie Askew had said that "after months of training, team bonding and preparation we arrived on the Gold Coast on a path for redemption." 

Whilst getting over the line in the Grand Final was "pure euphoria," the real highlight for Lachie was "being able to do it with 14 of your best friends. It was truly something special and I'll never forget it."

Men's Tennis fought hard and flew up the ranks this year, achieving the Silver Medal. Spiking their way to a Bronze Medal was our Women's Volleyball, joining our Women's Rowing, Men's Soccer and Sailing teams who also took home Bronze. 

However, as always, it's not just about winning. Team Monash represented our University with pride, sportsmanship and energy, earning the South Spirit Champion Pennant. This is a great achievement and all our athletes should be giving themselves a pat on the back for this recognition of spirit! 

In addition to the Monash student athletes who competed at Nationals, an amazing group of Team Leaders, coaches and Monash staff supported the students to perform at their best as well as ensuring the event ran smoothly for everyone. 

A big congratulations is in order to everyone who competed or helped out at this year’s UniSport Nationals. We can’t wait to see what’s to come in 2024!
