Sword Exemption
In the state of Victoria, swords are a prohibited weapon to own and use. All members of the Wushu and Taichi Club at Monash University are eligible for a Sword Exemption thanks to our membership with the Wushu Taichi and Qigong Association of Australia (WTQA).
While proof of exemption is not required when using weapons at training, owning weapons and training with them elsewhere will require our Sword Exemption Card. Please fill out this form to receive your membership card. This form does require a Statutory Declaration - a police check, Working with Children check or standard statutory declaration are all valid.
Flexible Weapons
In the state of Victoria, flexible weapons (such as nunchaku, three-sectioned cudgels, chain whips and rope darts) are prohibited weapons. To own and use these is not covered by the club and must be applied for independently. This required a Governor in Council Exemption Order.
