Shorinji Kempo Club

What is Shorinji Kempo?

Shorinji Kempo is a modern but traditional Japanese martial art. It is a very complete system comprising:
 Goho (hand and foot strikes and blocks)
 Juho (hand and body releases, throws and arresting techniques)
 Seiho (traditional Japanese healing system)

The essence of Shorinji Kempo practice is the development of a healthy mind, healthy body and ability in self -defence. Shorinji Kempo places no emphasis on winning or competing.
Instead, it promotes mutual respect and support between training partners so that both progress to achieve their full potential. In this respect, it is unlike sports and is a unique martial art.

The Monash Shorinji Kempo club was founded in 1983. It is affiliated with the World Shorinji Kempo Organisation.

As well as regular training, we regularly host Shorinji Kempo kenshi (students) from interstate and overseas and our members often attend training camps interstate and overseas.
